The general objective of PACCS is to train researchers, qualified and committed to the advancement and innovation of knowledge at the level of Academic Masters, Doctorates and Post-Doctorates, in the context of Brazilian health, aiming to boost the production of academic knowledge guided by dialogicity, educational care with a focus on leadership, creative capacity, technological innovation, sustainability, scientific and ethical rigor of life, collaborating for the improvement of the teaching staff and social transformation, serving the area of concentration of the Program “The complexity of nursing care and health”.
The Academic Program in Health Care Sciences (PACCS) was created in 2009, with the Master Course and started offering the Doctorate Course from 2014. These proposals were approved in all instances of the UFF, with a unique Institutional support. Both were sent to CAPES within the stipulated deadline and were approved by this body, without requirements, which allowed the consolidation and expansion of the program at the Aurora de Afonso Costa Nursing School of Fluminense University.
Throughout its trajectory this Program has been distinguished by its interdisciplinary character, meeting the demand of nurses and other health professionals and related areas. Since its initial proposal, PACCS has maintained its social and ethical commitment to promote life, contributing to the training of professionals capable of developing relevant projects that impact on the social, cultural, epidemiological and clinical dimensions of the population.
In addition, we highlight the contribution of the Program in the formation of masters, doctors and post-doctors not only from the State of Rio de Janeiro but also from other states in Brazil such as Maranhão, Pará, Espirito Santo, Goiás, São Paulo, Amazonas and Minas Gerais, among others as well as Latin American countries such as Colombia, Peru and Mexico.
Multidisciplinarity and the broader conception of health are factors that motivate and attract students from different areas of knowledge such as nursing, administration, law, physical education, pharmacy, philosophy, physiotherapy, history, medicine, nutrition, pedagogy, psychology, dentistry, social services and theology. Most master’s and doctoral students are directly linked to public or private health services in Brazil, which through their research have contributed to solving problems in health practices, encouraged by the progressive pedagogy adopted in the course.
In 2017 a new quadrennium of the Program began, under the coordination of the teachers Dr. Beatriz Guitton Renault de Oliveira and Dr. Vera Maria Sabóia, elected with expressive vote by PACCS teachers and technical-administrative staff. The current coordination has been pursuing the planning established in 2016, as well as implementing innovative actions regarding the theoretical, methodological and management issues of the Program.
PACCS has as its general objective to train qualified and committed researchers to the advancement and innovation of knowledge at the Academic Master (MS), Doctorate (DO) and Post-Doctorate (Post-Doc) levels, in the context of Brazilian health, aiming at boosting production. of academic knowledge guided by dialogicity, educational-care focused on leadership, creative capacity, technological innovation, sustainability, scientific and ethical rigor of life, contributing to the improvement of teaching and social transformation, meeting the Program’s concentration area “The complexity of care in nursing and health”.
